The way we used to find somewhere to live was by looking in the newspaper or on bulletin boards, making many phone calls and just hoping that all the places haven't already been rented that we want to look at. Trying to find an apartment to rent could take you days and sometimes even weeks. And you would be going in blind if you were moving across the country because there was no way to see what you would be getting.
Finding the best apartment with the best ratings and reviews needs time. You have to take the time to think about your criteria for your ideal place to live. To do this, try listing your own set of criteria for your own apartment ratings. Your criteria for an apartment may include practical things you want to have such as the price, location, furnishings, and security just to name a few. Setting up the criteria for your apartment ratings is all up to you.
Make sure you check out the crime rate in your potential area. There are some crimes that are annoying, but if you choose an area with a high crime rate, it can become a life threatening problem. Most counties and cities publish their crime rate reports online for free public viewing. Traffic is something else that you need to be aware of. It isn't enough to just visit the apartment in person. Even if it's located next to a freeway, it doesn't necessarily mean there won't be constant traffic jams.
