Ceramic specialty mugs can be one-of-a-kind or a set. Mugs from a potter's wheel that have been glazed and fired can be simple in design to a detailed hand-carved design. These mugs are usually signed, numbered and dated by the potter on the bottom of the mug. Pre-made white mugs can become specialty mugs by adding all kinds of personal designs that have some meaning to the one ordering it. One can have them personalized by adding pictures, sayings, one's own artwork or drawings that has meaning to buyer of the mug or someone who will be getting as a gift. This type of specialty mugs may be ordered for people in specific professions, such as teachers, bus drivers or chiropractors other who are involved in another specific activity such as a volleyball coach, a leader of a boys or girls club or any other specific activity. And, they can also denote graduation year, birthdays, marriages, bar mitzvahs, Eagle Scout awards and more such as seasonal greetings such as Christmas, Easter or designs for some other reason on them.
You looking to purchase some mugs for advertising a product or maybe you are giving some out as gifts or simply just promoting your business. Whatever you are looking to achieve do you look for promotional, printed, branded, personalised or corporate mugs, does it really matter? Well in essence it probably doesn't as most promotional gift companies promote their mugs under most of these phrases as you never really know in this modern time of the internet which term a client will use when searching for information or costing on these types of promotional items.
Nearly all thermal mugs are made of plastic or stainless steel, although there are glass and ceramic thermal mugs available. For travel though, it's best to stick with the first two types. Plastic mugs are generally less expensive, but have some drawbacks. Plastic tends to retain the flavor of whatever you have in it, so if you use your coffee mug for a different beverage, it may give it a bit of a coffee taste. Stainless steel doesn't have this problem (at least if you clean your mug regularly!), so if you plan on using your thermal mug for more than one type of beverage, stainless steel is the way to go. Plastic is difficult to break, but overall isn't as durable as stainless steel, so a plastic mug may not last as long. Although usually a bit more expensive, stainless steel thermal mugs are generally best. One exception to this is if you tend to lose your mug. In this case, a cheaper plastic mug is probably the best choice!
