Mugs. Friday , September 21st , 2018 - 10:31:12 AM
We all have them on our desks, in our cupboards and at home in the kitchen crockery cupboard. Sometimes full of tea or coffee, other times full of pens. I am talking about promotional mugs. This article is a guide built up over my many years of experience of sourcing and supplying promotional mugs. I will explain the different sorts of mugs that are available, and the advantages and disadvantages of them. I will cover the methods used for printing and branding the mugs. I will detail how to specify the logo and receive samples for approval. Finally I cover the process of delivery of the mugs to the client and distribution to the customers.
Always consider the lid! Not all lids are created equal. If you will be using your travel mug in your car you will want a lid with a slip slider, or other mechanism to keep hot coffee from splashing out and onto your lap. Some lids have loose fitting swivel closures. Those usually don't work very well. They allow coffee to splash everywhere. I prefer the slip sliders, the tighter the better.
Animals tend to lend themselves more easily to a lidded mug. One such mug is the Naughty Cat where the cat's tail becomes the handle, and the cat's head - sporting a smile that suggests, "Who me?" becomes the lid. Cows are also a prime subject for a lidded mug with their heads (with horns) becoming the lid and their tails the mug's handle. Even Star Wars' R2D2 has been turned into a ceramic lidded mug.
